What is digital storytelling?

New media is a phrase that's on everybody's lips. It's about using technology to tell stories in a whole new way. And we all like a good story. Digital storytelling is a way to share your ideas through the use of images, text, voice, sound, music, video and animation.  It’s a way of preserving memory, writing history, learning, and of course, entertaining.

In the S2S Digital Storytelling project, you will explore media making and creative writing to produce a 3-minute story about your own experiences in the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada.

Through a series of workshops you will learn to produce creative work using your own photos, and video that you’ll have a chance to shoot. You’ll start by writing the story, working on the visuals, recording sound, and, in the process, gain knowledge of Mac-based editing.

And best of all, no technical expertise is necessary!
